The Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, will on Monday next week formally open the London headquarters of the Bayelsa State Development and Investment Corporation (BDIC).
The initiative is part of his administration’s continued efforts towards propagating the enormous investment potentials of the state as well as broadening its economic base.
This was announced in a statement in Yenagoa on Thursday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Iworiso-Markson.
He said Dickson would lead a high-powered delegation from the state to the event, which takes place at the proposed BDIC office, 13, Charles II Street, London. SWIY SQU, United Kingdom.
Iworiso-Markson disclosed that Dalhatu Sarki Tafida, Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, is also expected to be at the helm of a 20-man delegation to the ceremony.
He informed that some members of the British Parliament and representatives of the Westminster Africa Business Group would also be in attendance.
“The BDIC, which was established by law in August, 2012, is intended to attract the needed investors from strong economies of the world to Bayelsa State to invest in critical areas like tourism, agriculture, the maritime sector, among others”, he stated.
According to him, the opening of the London office is also a fulfilment of Dickson’s pronouncement during the launch of the African regional headquarters in Johannesburg, South Africa, last year, that an office of the corporation will be opened in London, United Kingdom and New York in the United States.
